Toepassing: wordt gebruikt in driewegkatalysatoren, glas-, keramische en elektronische industrieën; wordt ook gebruikt voor de vervaardiging van precisie-optisch glas en optische vezels.het dient als keramische condensatoren en een dopant voor piezo-elektrische keramiekBovendien wordt het gebruikt als grondstof voor de productie van lanthaanboride en als katalysator voor de scheiding en raffinage van aardolie.
